KBRS is pleased to have assisted the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS) in their search for their new Executive Director.

Michael Kabalen stepped into this important role effective January 3, 2023, to lead the dedicated team at AHANS in advocating for the organization’s goals, vision, values, and initiatives, as well as managing day-to-day operations. 

In his role as Executive Director, Michael will serve as a spokesperson for AHANS, strengthening its reputation as a leading expert and provider of affordable housing in the province. He brings over a decade of experience in the housing industry in progressive leadership roles, most recently as Director of Real Property & Asset Transformation for the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing (NS). 

"I am honored to take on this critical role as the new Executive Director of AHANS," said Michael. "With the current housing crisis, I believe that this is the most important calling of my career. I am eager to work with the talented team at AHANS and our partners in the non-profit, government, and private sectors to positively impact and address the pressing issue of affordable housing." 

Michael's experience in the housing industry, his strategic thinking, and his strong relationship-building skills will be significant assets in the role of Executive Director.
