KBRS is pleased to have assisted Genoa Design International (Genoa) in the appointment of Laurie Balan as the organization’s inaugural Chief Technical Officer.

Genoa is pleased to welcome Laurie Balan as our inaugural Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Laurie is a professional engineer and experienced senior leader who brings over a decade of technical operations leadership experience to the role of CTO. She has worked in the marine engineering sector for 15 years and supported some of Canada’s largest defence contracts.

In her most recent role as Director of Engineering with Fleetway Inc., Laurie supported business growth and capability objectives by leading a team of more than 100 engineers and technologists across the organization’s four Canadian offices.

As our first CTO, Laurie will lead Genoa’s technical team and leverage our expertise to continuously identify, develop, evaluate, and plan for the delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers.

Laurie holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Memorial University. She is a designated professional engineer, Project Management Professional (PMP), member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL), and associate member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
