Chief Financial Officer, Nunatsiavut Group of Companies
Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL

Join Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC) as Chief Financial Officer and play a key role in supporting the financial strength and day-to-day success of a diverse, community-focused organization.

The Company

The Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC), based in Labrador, is dedicated to generating sustainable economic value for Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries. Operating under the Labrador Inuit Capital Strategy Trust (LICST), NGC is a leader across sectors including marine services, aviation, logistics, construction, mining, and real estate. Since 2011, NGC has continued to build on its foundation as Nunatsiavut’s economic development corporation, with a focus on steady growth, sound financial management, and long-term community benefit.

The Role

Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO will play a key role in ensuring strong financial oversight across a diverse group of operating companies. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys a hands-on environment and takes pride in building strong financial processes, producing reliable reporting, and supporting day-to-day business operations. The successful candidate will contribute to a stable and well-run organization while helping ensure financial discipline and accountability across its business units.

Key areas of oversight and responsibility:
  • Financial Oversight and Planning: Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management processes across NGC and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.

  • Operational and Team Leadership: Oversee and support the finance team, strengthening internal controls, improving workflows, and ensuring efficient financial operations across multiple entities.

  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure all financial reporting, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations are met to a high standard, working closely with external auditors and partners.

  • Business Support: Provide practical financial insight to operational leaders, supporting decision-making with clear, relevant analysis and guidance.

  • Relationship Management: Maintain effective working relationships with banking partners, auditors, subsidiaries, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a dependable and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, team-based environment. You bring a strong foundation in financial management and are comfortable balancing multiple priorities across a group of companies. You may currently be a CFO, Director of Finance, or a seasoned Controller looking for a role where you can contribute meaningfully, lead a team, and have a direct impact on day-to-day operations without the sole focus on high-level strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all qualifications in equal measure, those listed below are desirable and will be used to compare candidates.

  • Progressive experience in finance roles, ideally in multi-entity or operational environments.

  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Experience supporting audits, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Experience in sectors such as construction, logistics, or similar operational industries is an asset.

  • Connection to Nunatsiavut and/or Labrador communities and familiarity with Indigenous communities and cultural contexts is valued

  • CPA designation preferred

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Hands-on approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Team-focused leader who supports and develops others.

  • Excellent communicator and trust-builder with cross-functional influence.
