Reporting to the national Provost, the regional Principal & Vice President, Academic - New Brunswick will have strategic accountabilities for developing and implementing the University’s mission in NB, particularly Yorkville’s commitment to faculty excellence, the student experience, and the growth of career relevant programs. The Principal & VPA is responsible for leading the academic operations for the campus/region, including building a team of high performing academic leaders; ensuring successful regulatory reviews (of proposed and existing programs); building a cohesive campus culture with an ethos of student service; faculty engagement, mentorship and development; academic program development; day-to-day oversight of all academic operations; and effective engagement with external stakeholders, including alumni, government, professional accrediting bodies and associations, employers and the local community.
The Principal & VPA’s direct leadership team includes the Dean of the Faculty of Education (multiple master’s degrees and graduate certificates), Dean of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Chair of the Doctor in Counselling Psychotherapy and Associate Vice President, External Partnerships and Alumni NB. The Principal & VPA works closely with the NB campus registrar and student services, as well as central leadership. The Principal & VPA chairs the New Brunswick academic Senate and is a member of the University Academic Council and the Provost’s Academic Leadership Team.
The Principal & VPA is the academic leader and representative for the New Brunswick based programs and is the primary link between Yorkville University and the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training, and Labour and the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC). All programs anchored in New Brunswick are fully online, serving a primarily adult, domestic, student population from every province and territory in Canada.

- Earned doctorate from a recognized university.
- Senior management experience in academia, teaching and/or managing faculty, including experience with academic program development and management, supervising faculty.
- Strong collaborative skills, academic business acumen, and the ability to work in a complex environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and learning strategies, course and program development, communication strategies, and student services including but not limited to current legislation and compliance requirements; determining strategies for short-term goals; sharing of best practices and innovative approaches to optimize operations; and fostering a team environment in support of university strategic goals.
- Experience in people leadership, including approaches for team collaboration, fostering inclusive working environments, managing team objectives, coaching, performance management, and conflict management.
- Experience working in highly dynamic settings with multiple transformation initiatives.
- Advanced verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
