Reporting to the Principal & Vice President, Academic, British Columbia for Yorkville University the Dean, Business (BC) will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and strategic direction for the Bachelor of Business Administration programs within BC. The Dean will lead and promote Yorkville University’s academic vision of transforming lives by championing excellence and innovation in education and establish Yorkville University as a differentiated leader in on campus and online learning. The Dean is responsible for academic planning and governance, championing student success, curriculum development and quality assurance, faculty hiring and review as well as the allocation of teaching duties to faculty members. They will also contribute to the management of the British Columbia campus budget. The Dean is also responsible for a working environment in which all faculty and staff can grow and thrive in support of the university’s mission and students’ academic success and wellbeing.
The BC campus offers the on-campus and online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs delivered to domestic and international students. The Dean will maintain a robust academic community that encourages professional development, scholarly activity, and participation in university initiatives. Working with a leadership team of associate deans, and in collaboration with the Dean, Business (ON), the Dean will have specific overarching responsibility for the academic management of the BC Business programs, students, and both full-time and part-time faculty members.
The Dean is involved in university-wide governance and the provincial senate, chairs committees, leads program planning and development to ensure the continuing quality of the business programs, as well as strengthening the integrity and reputation of Yorkville within the industry. The Dean is responsible for academic planning and governance, curriculum development and quality assurance. The Dean will also work with university leadership and faculty members to explore, propose, and implement new programming initiatives.
The Dean will also oversee external relationships, representing BC Business programs with a variety of external stakeholders. This includes developing strategic partnerships and managing relationships with regulators and licensing bodies. The Dean strives to support students’ academic achievement and successful outcomes. The Dean will work with the Principal & VPA BC as well as other service and support units of the university to ensure an excellent student experience and quality assurance of faculty programs.

- Earned doctorate from a recognized/accredited institution in a related field.
- At least 7 years’ experience teaching on-campus and/or online at the postsecondary level.
- At least 3 years’ administrative experience, with increasing responsibilities, in a post-secondary education environment.
- Experience with online delivery of courses and programs.
- Exceptional diplomatic skills with strong organizational and consensus-building skills, and the ability to inspire and lead faculty with diverse interests.
- Strong capacity for external relations, including alumni, Program Advisory Council members and professional communities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with teams across all functions.
- A record of success in recruiting and retaining talented and diverse faculty.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong focus on students with emphasis on retention, academic success, and wellbeing.
- A strong track record of accomplishment in the scholarly and research community.
