The Automotive Business School of Canada (ABSC) trains the next generation of business leaders in the automotive industry throughout Canada. Business and Management programs offer an exceptional pathway for students to embark on successful careers across every industry, providing limitless opportunities in fields such as marketing, accounting, human resources, bookkeeping, office administration, and more. Through a robust curriculum, we prepare graduates for a wide range of career options, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. With up to 12 months of paid co-op work terms, students gain real-world experience, enhancing their professional networks and providing a distinct competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The Role
Based out of the Barrie Campus and reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean provides broad academic management to a cluster of diverse programs within an academic/program area. Ensures the objectives of the programs are attained through effective supervision of teaching and learning processes. Facilitates the on-going review of existing programs and the development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry. In accordance with College Policies and the Collective Agreement, the incumbent supports a collaborative problem-solving culture when dealing with student and staff issues/complaints. Establishes positive relationships with faculty, staff, students & industry/sector representatives. Supports students, the student experience, recruitment and workplace initiatives.

- Master’s degree preferred with an undergraduate degree in a field related to Business, Adult Education or
- Educational Leadership with progressive academic and teaching experience in post-secondary education
- Training in teaching / training / curriculum (e.g. Centre for Teaching & Learning courses)
- Proven knowledge and experience in current business and management industries and practices
- Leadership experience in an academic or administrative setting
- Experience with academic processes and procedures (including curriculum development, teaching and learning styles and techniques, complaint procedures, program reviews, collective agreements, etc.)
- Project management experience with demonstrated analytical and organizational skills to be able to manage multiple projects in an effective and timely manner
- Communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills in order to build and cultivate relationships with a variety of constituents and manage difficult situations with diplomacy and tact
- Ability to identify, address and resolve problems or conflicts in an efficient and diplomatic manner
- Experience developing, managing and monitoring budgets
- Demonstrated community connections and networking experience
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially in a unionized environment
- Ability to lead effectively in organizational change management
