J.D. Irving Moncton is currently seeking candidates for the role of Director of Tax. The tax function is integral to JDI, interfacing with multiple aspects of the organization. The successful candidate will spearhead initiatives with significant potential for bottom-line impact on JDI's growth trajectory.

 

What Does This Role Entail?

 

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Tax at J.D. Irving Moncton is accountable for contributing to JDI’s long-term tax strategy and executing tax planning processes within J. D. Irving Moncton to optimize organizational value by minimizing after-tax costs in compliance with applicable laws across provinces, states, and countries where the organization operates. The inaugural Director of Tax for J.D. Irving Moncton will play a key role in the organization’s growth, with a key initiative of building a leading a high-performing tax team, ensuring seamless support to current and future business initiatives. As a senior member of the Finance team, the Director of Tax will communicate proactively and transparently while providing direct leadership and oversight to the tax team. This role encompasses managing income tax and commodity tax matters for J. D. Irving Moncton various privately held entities and will work in close collaboration with the corporate JDI tax team to identify implications to the broader business and ensure alignment to overall corporate tax strategies.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

 

As the ideal candidate, you are a senior tax leader with at least 10 years of corporate taxation experience, encompassing a broad range of tax areas including income tax, indirect taxation, and international corporate taxation and you excel in tax compliance, planning, and controversy resolution. With strong business acumen, you align tax strategies with business goals and navigate regulatory environments effectively. You demonstrate proven leadership experience in developing tax teams and handling complex organizational structures. Familiarity with US or international tax principles is considered an asset. You are adept at leading and building high-performing teams, fostering talent growth, and driving engagement. You are adaptable, creative, and responsive to changing tax laws and market conditions, employing innovative solutions to challenges. Results-driven, you consistently deliver high-quality outcomes and drive continuous improvements in tax processes. Highly skilled in communication, you can simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences and maintain proactive, hands-on involvement to provide practical solutions and informed guidance.
