The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President Academic, the Dean, School of Health, Human and Justice Studies is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College and for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support and direction to all faculty and staff in the School. The Dean is accountable for the planning, development, maintenance and ongoing quality review of the health, human and justice studies full-time and part-time programming offered within the School. As the senior leader of the School, the Dean’s role is to be responsive to the needs of students, industry, and the community, while aligning with the College’s strategic objectives. The Dean fosters and maintains positive relationships with industry and business representatives and contributes to the College’s applied research, and work-integrated learning initiatives. The Dean champions truth and reconciliation efforts, actively cultivating an environment that embodies and promotes principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The Dean is accountable for the fiscal management of the school, including development of budgets, capital requests, adherence to procurement policies, and the assessment of risk for the department.

The Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you have academic leadership experience in a post secondary environment as well as relevant industry experience. You have education that is grounded in a health-related discipline, and hold a Master’s degree in health sciences, higher education, health or education leadership, or another related discipline. You have demonstrated success in collaborative leadership, strategic planning and innovation, and are adept at leading through change. You are an approachable leader with a demonstrated ability to inspire others to excel. You are deeply committed to truth and reconciliation, and increasing accessibility, equity and diversity with the ability to promote an inclusive climate wherein every member of the community feels valued and accepted. You are an advocate for students, faculty and staff, and value relationships within, across, and outside the College. In your approach to relationship building, you actively cultivate and maintain relationships that support the College’s strategic objectives. You have the ability to lead and support the College’s academic vision, recognizing important opportunities for growth, developing long range goals and inspiring the faculty community to achieve them.
