Vice-President, Finance and Administration

Wanted: A Vice-President of Finance and Administration ready for the times

Funding pressures, tuition freezes, study permit caps … there have been brighter days in higher education. At Seneca Polytechnic, in times of adversity, we lean in. And we need a Vice-President, Finance and Administration (VPFA) who sees opportunities where others only see challenges.

Seneca is taking on the great challenges of our time – equity, sustainability and rebuilding the economy and is delivering great polytechnic education that combines rigorous academics with practical training.

If you’re a leader who embraces possibilities and sees challenges as opportunities, we’d love to see your application.   Reporting to the President, the Vice-President, Finance & Administration is a member of the Senior Executive and supports the Finance and Administration Committee of the Board of Governors.

The departments reporting to the VPFA are core pillars of the organization and are key to Seneca’s continued success: Finance, Campus Services, Facilities and Capital Projects.

The finance leader is accountable for ensuring that institutional financial strategies support our mission, vision and values in bold and innovative ways. Working collaboratively with academic and administrative leaders across Seneca, the VPFA:

  • delivers strategic insights across the portfolio while demonstrating operational excellence;
  • thinks creatively on both sides of the balance sheet in rapidly changing times;
  • takes a global view of Seneca’s mandate to deliver a great polytechnic education;
  • brings strong relationships across a broad range of external partners and stakeholders;
  • models our values of collaboration, innovation and respect and
  • builds nimble teams who are excited to work together towards common goals.

As the ideal candidate, you embrace what it means to be the equitable, sustainable and more virtual Seneca and you want to help deliver Seneca’s Strategic Plan, The Next.

As the ideal candidate, you are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has significant executive experience, preferably some of it in higher education, and are comfortable working in a unionized environment.

You have a demonstrated record of entrepreneurship and transformative leadership and possess a postsecondary degree, with advanced leadership and team-building skills, as well as experience working collaboratively to deliver effective, sector leading results.
