Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette is pleased to have assisted the South Shore Regional School Board with the appointment of Geoff Cainen as Superintendent of Schools. A proven leader with a passion for public education, Geoff brings to the role over 30 years of experience within the public school system. He has held numerous leadership positions, from Principal and Department Head to his most recent role as Director of Program and Student Services for the Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB). An innovative strategist and natural collaborator, Geoff led the continuous improvement initiative for the HRSB, and played a significant role in the How Good is Good Enough strategic planning process that has resulted in significant improvements in HRSB’s student outcomes.
Geoff received his Masters in Literacy and Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University, and his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University. A thought leader among his peers, he has presented on a variety of educational topics to both international and local audiences of educators.
“Geoff’s ability to build strong working relationships in a complex environment, with education partners at all levels, and his demonstrated commitment to school improvement will be invaluable in addressing the unique challenges facing public education today”, says Jennifer Naugler, Board Chair, South Shore Regional School Board. “Geoff possesses the enthusiasm and dedication required to guide the Board as we work diligently to ensure our learners are prepared for the challenges of the 21st Century.”
