Mohawk College has been providing a quality higher education experience to students in Hamilton, Ontario and surrounding area since 1967. The college educates and serves more than 33,000 full-time, part-time and apprenticeship students at three main campuses in Hamilton, multiple City School by Mohawk learning hubs across the city, and at the College’s Aviation Facility at the Hamilton International Airport. Mohawk is among the leading colleges in Canada for applied research. It has been named one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers for 7 consecutive years and one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 6 years in a row. Mohawk is also home to the country’s largest zero carbon institutional building. Mohawk’s dynamic faculty teach 180 programs in specialties including healthcare, technology, business and skilled trades as well as a vast array of other subjects. More than 125,000 students have graduated from Mohawk since it was founded. Mohawk College is inviting expressions of interest for the roles of Governor for the College’s Board of Governors, and Director for the Mohawk College Foundation Board of Directors.

Board of Governors: As an ideal candidate for a Governor role with the Mohawk College Board of Governors, you have an affiliation or familiarity with Mohawk College and a keen interest in supporting the growth and development of the College. Experienced in serving on a volunteer Board, you bring knowledge of best practices in board governance and, ideally, a solid understanding of governance in an academic or broader public sector environment. You are an experienced leader with a combination of entrepreneurial skills and key competencies essential to providing leadership, sound decision-making and oversight to the College. You have a background in law, finance or accounting, business management, marketing and communications, human resources, commercial finance/banking, economic development, enterprise risk management, international business, applied research, health care, information technology and/or relevant academic or professional expertise.

Foundation Board of Directors: As an ideal candidate for a Director role with the Mohawk College Foundation Board of Directors, you have an affiliation or familiarity with Mohawk College and a keen interest in supporting the growth and development of the College and the Foundation. Experienced in serving on a volunteer Board, you bring knowledge of best practices in fundraising and have strong networks that can support the College in its fundraising activities. You are an experienced leader with a combination of entrepreneurial skills and key competencies essential to providing leadership, sound decision-making and oversight to the Foundation. You may have a background in marketing and communications, as well as experience in fundraising. You are experienced in relationship building to support organizational goals and can use your influence to create beneficial partnerships. You will be willing to make a meaningful, personal financial contribution to the Mohawk College Foundation. You may also have experience in law, finance or accounting, business management, human resource management, commercial finance/banking, economic development, enterprise risk management, international business, applied research. Health care, information technology and/or relevant academic or professional expertise may also be an asset in this role.
