The Dean of Professional Studies and Graduate Studies facilitates the academic operations of MSVU’s professional and graduate programs, supports faculty members in teaching and research, facilitates their professional development, ensures fairness in the academic regulations to students, works with other senior administrators in the development and implementation of University and Faculty policies, and represents the University, as required, to local, regional, national and international organizations. The Dean is responsible for overseeing six academic departments (Applied Human Nutrition, Business Administration and Tourism, Child and Youth Study, Communication Studies, Family Studies and Gerontology, and Information Technology) as well as the Centre for Cooperative Education, the Centre for Academic Advising & Student Success, the Nova Scotia Centre of Aging, the Centre for Women in Business, and the Child Study Centre, and for reviewing and making recommendations on all matters relating to graduate degrees across the University.

As the ideal candidate, you possess a doctoral degree and you are experienced in fostering and supporting graduate studies and program development. You bring a distinguished record of academic and research achievement including experience with individual and collaborative small and large-scale research projects. You have a demonstrated commitment to and understanding of excellence in teaching and learning, and are experienced in supporting diverse forms of scholarship, research, and creative activity and the range of research disciplines that exist within the University. You possess strong communication and relationship building skills and a student focus, are committed to academic administration and leadership excellence and can demonstrate capable and responsible administrative management ability.
