Founded in 1785, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) is proud to be one of the first public universities in North America and the oldest English-language university in Canada. Renaissance College, established in 2000, is UNB’s School of Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies and the first initiative of its kind in Canada. The College offers undergraduate degrees in Interdisciplinary Leadership (BPhil), Integrated Studies (BIS), as well as minor and certificate programs. With its small class sizes and the availability of a range of experiential learning opportunities across Canada and abroad, Renaissance College offers programs at the forefront of leadership education in the country.
Reporting to the Vice-President Academic (Fredericton), the Dean of Renaissance College provides institutional leadership and is responsible for the overall administrative management of academic programs, including partnerships within and external to the University, as well as the Faculty budget and fundraising initiatives. The Dean will serve in guiding, directing, and collaborating with the College’s diverse and intimate community of students, alumni, staff, faculty and community partners.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a distinguished record of successful academic and administrative leadership experience and an outstanding scholarly record in alignment with the interdisciplinary curriculum offered at Renaissance College. Collaborative, transformative, and inspiring, the ideal candidate comes to the role with a global perspective and the demonstrated ability to build the College’s profile locally, nationally, and internationally. The new Dean will lead in a style that maintains the spirit and culture of this unique institution and is in keeping with the College’s vision and practice of communal leadership.
