The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Windsor is a leader in nursing education. The Faculty’s emphasis on nursing research has grown exponentially over the last decade as a result of a collective effort to create and support a research-intensive environment that will support the Faculty in becoming an effective contributor to evidence-based nursing. The Faculty offers a Collaborative Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Nursing program, a PhD program as well as diploma and online course offerings. It is one of the few nursing programs in Ontario that offers students the ability to complete an exchange semester abroad at partner schools in Australia and Sweden.
The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing reports to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic and is responsible for the administrative leadership and the overall management of the Faculty (including its budget, strategic planning and external relationships), its academic programs and its academic development. As the chief academic and administrative officer of the Faculty of Nursing, the Dean is an important member of the University’s senior management team and participates fully in the governance of the University. The Dean is expected to provide visionary and strategic leadership for the Faculty and promote excellence in nursing education, practice, research, scholarship and creative activity.
The successful candidate will hold graduate degree in Nursing, and a doctoral degree in Nursing or related field. They will possess an outstanding scholarly record that makes them eligible for a senior academic appointment, have a record of successful research, administrative and teaching leadership experience, and have experience with university-based undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing. They will demonstrate sound knowledge of nursing education and practice as well as a track record of service to the community and the profession. They will be eligible for licensure with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
