St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) is seeking an inaugural Vice-President, Students. Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-President, Students will provide visionary leadership in the development of the Xaverian Student Experience — a strategic plan for the holistic development of students — which sets the national standard for a unique, rewarding, and life-changing approach to undergraduate education. As the Vice-President, Students you will oversee a comprehensive range of programs and services related to campus programming and planning in support of student success. A member of the Executive Team and the President’s Council of the University, the Vice-President, Students will be part of a campus-wide collaboration which blends the academic, social, community, and service experiences of students, enabling graduates to make a difference in the world.

As the ideal candidate, you have a demonstrated commitment to, and passion for, student success within a post-secondary environment. You are aware of the trends and best practices associated with student service responsibilities in a rural, residential university and appreciate the unique opportunities offered by this context. Your graduate-level education has provided you with a well-developed understanding of contemporary theory in student affairs, student development, and student services. An energetic change manager with strong administrative acumen, you will successfully develop and lead new initiatives, collaborate across administrative and academic units, and inspire a team of dedicated student-focused professionals. You have a demonstrated commitment to, and expertise in, diversity and inclusion as an integral component of a quality university experience and bring a global perspective to all that you do. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will allow you to successfully lead community consultations, work productively with diverse stakeholders, and foster an environment characterized by openness, transparency and respect across the student affairs portfolio.
