Director, Human Resources

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Human Resources is responsible for the development, alignment, and execution of the Firm’s talent strategy across all lines of business, markets, functions, and locations. The Director leads the Firm’s efforts to improve employee engagement and retention, to build a strong talent pipeline to serve our current and future clients, and to work collaboratively with Firm leadership to ensure that all HR strategies and initiatives advance the Firm’s strategic business objectives. The Director’s portfolio includes recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and policy development and implementation.

Together with a team of dedicated human resources managers and assistants, the Director, Human Resources will position Stewart McKelvey as an employer of choice by identifying and implementing best practices for attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse, productive, and engaged workforce that adapts with evolving business needs and a changing labour market.
As the ideal candidate, you are skilled at collaborating across functions and engaging with multi-site office environments. You are a proven leader with demonstrated success in managing large teams. You cultivate a transformation mindset and, through skillful and thoughtful communication and change management strategies, generate excitement and buy-in among staff and leadership to support the Firm’s vision and core values. You use influence and collaboration to ensure consistency in the integration of approved HR polices across the Firm. You have a strong drive for results, a sense of urgency, and an ability to flexibly streamline and standardize processes and procedures while strategically using technology solutions to maximize efficiency. You have exceptional client service orientation with strong judgment, exceptional time management, and superior communication and active listening skills. You possess noted emotional intelligence, tact, and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
