Dean of the Faculty of Education
Dynamic, modern, and learner-centred, Lakehead University acknowledges all our students as valued leaders of tomorrow, whose education and success are most paramount to our institution. Both campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia promise an enriching university experience: a blend of academic excellence and opportunity with a variety of social and recreational activities. Lakehead University’s Faculty of Education offers innovative undergraduate, graduate, and ongoing learning opportunities that are grounded in research and a commitment to social and environmental wellbeing. The Faculty serves diverse communities through active partnerships and learner engagement. The Faculty strives to inspire, and be, active and critical learners who are recognized for their leadership and commitment to research, teaching, and service in education.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean of the Faculty of Education is responsible for the overall management of the Faculty and serves as a strategic and collegial leader to faculty, staff, and students. The Dean is responsible for developing unique, high-quality, transformational undergraduate and graduate teaching, learning, and research experiences that encourage critical thinking. The Dean is a role model for Lakehead University’s commitment to social justice and drives education, research, and service strategies that address community and societal needs within the regions served by Lakehead. By focusing on teaching excellence, student-centred learning experiences, and promoting research connectedness, the Dean will work to position the Faculty and Lakehead generally as a flexible institution that can meet the needs of students today, and into the future.
